Personal Trainer

Two of my brothers in laws have asked me to be their trainer. Now I'm flattered, but I've never done this sort of thing. I hope I don't over exert them at first.

I was thinking of treating them as if I treated myself when I first started to loose work. The problem is that I'm not sure they can do the same thing I did back then. It really wasn't that healthy of an approach to loosing weight.

I need to do a little research on this. I started with them this past Monday. It consisted of about a mile of run walking. I'm glad that they finished.

I already have had push back from them, but I’m real stubborn when it comes to this sort of thing. Besides, they asked me. One of the things that kept me on track was to create a spreadsheet so that I could visually see the weight and inches drop off. Also, I wanted to take a digital picture of them so they could see what they used to look like. They didn’t want to do this, but I will ask them again tomorrow.

They have a long way to go still, but I'm going to push them so long as they want to be pushed. I'll try to check back with you on their progress.

Antioxidants

This months Triathlete magazine had an interesting article on optimal triathlon nutrition. They stated that hard training creates stress, and stress produces free radicals that are bad for you body. Free radicals are produced when oxygen mixes with certain molecules to create atoms with an odd number of electrons. To fight free radicals one needs to either cut back on the hard training (good luck with that one) or one needs to eat a balanced meal that has plenty of antioxidants to fight the free radicals. On an aside, antioxidants also have shown to lower cancer rates in people. For us, a diet rich in antioxidants may help us recover more rapidly after a hard workout. Foods that are high in Vitamin C, Vitamin E and beta carotene are considered as antioxidant foods, which are found in fruits, vegetables, berries, nuts and some nutritional supplements.

The Top 20 foods that rank high in antioxidants are:
