Another run right around the corner

Well it's fast approaching the end of another summer.

What will be the end of the season event... marathon or a century ride?

Hate to say it, but neither is in the mix for this year.

I haven't trained hard enough to run a marathon and my body or wife will let me ride another century. Last one hurt my body real good. Nevertheless, that's another story.

So my training partner has suggested something called The Escape. I have never run this event, but it doesn't sound to hard (10k) and the location (Mayberry state park) is ideal.

So it's time to kick up the running a little and get ready for the event on September 18th.

Vacation

We went to the the northern part of the state to get away from it all. It was fun doing absolutly nothing and basically sleeping for several days...

It's always good to sometimes not do anything and let the batteries recharge.

While up there I didn't get a chance to train much, but I did manage to run a few times with my nephew Ryan. He isn't that bad a runner for his age.

Anyway, on one of the last days, it was decided that we go fishing and the whole crew did. While there, Alex got the fishing hook stuck in the river. I walked out to where the hook was to get it unstuck. The river bed had many rocks that were sharp which caused me to cut the bottoms of my feet pretty good. Needless to say that this brought the running to an end.
