Off-season Work

November brings the off-season to the great Midwest. The days are getting shorter and the temperatures are going down. Winter is right aroung the corner. I have been in full off-season mode for about 6 weeks. You may ask, what is your off-season like?

The answer is simple. Off-season is a time for reflection on the previous year, weight training to increase stregth, maintaining conditioning levels, train weak disciplines and increase flexibility. Well for me it is at least four out of five. I still bike indoors 3 to 4 times a week (did I ever tell you guys how much I like spin classes). I have been reading about others great races and have gone through my head several times changes that I need to do for next year. I have also kicked up the weight training with at least 3 sessions a week. The weight training is working as I have noticed that I have been getting a little stronger and the muscle mass is growing in the legs and upper body. At this rate, I'll have to race in the Clydesdale division next year (which is above 200 lbs.)

I'll start my running regiment again right around the new year and swimming is just a few months after that. So much work, so little time and energy.

On a downer... I tried to apply for both the Wisconsin and the Florida Ironman events. They were both sold out within hours of opening the events to the public. You've would have thought that U2 was playing the event by how fast the tickets sold out. Oh well, I hope they add a few new events that fit our schedule and there is always Steelhead again.

I'll try to post my weekly workouts again like I did last year. I know they are sooooo exciting : )
